Hi, my name is Monique Koven, and I am a certified trauma recovery and resilience coach. I have worked for over 25 years as a social worker.
As a survivor of repetitive childhood trauma, I know what it's like feel unsafe in your own body believe that things will never change. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and chronic PTSD. I tried over 15 therapeutic modalities, but nothing helped. I lived for decades with chronic anxiety, fear, and distressing daily PTSD symptoms such as flashbacks, disassociation, and triggering. I felt broken. I felt helpless. I felt hopeless. ALL VERY FAMILIAR FEELINGS. Waking up with feelings of dread at the thought of a new day and then living it in constant anxiety. Every. Single. Day. I was told that trauma and anxiety were going to be with me for the long haul, and that I would have to learn coping strategies to manage my symptoms. I believed it. Until... everything changed.
I no longer have chronic PTSD and anxiety and am experiencing the kind of life I always wished for. One where I could feel SAFE in my own body and life. I am now sharing my passion with others that recovery is possible. I have watched so many people recover and now living in freedom and peace of mind.
Trauma is not a life sentence. You do not have to live in the same feelings of your trauma over and over again. Change is possible because we were designed to thrive and not just SURVIVE this life.
